Some birds evoke such a sense of location - the call of Redwinged Blackbirds reminding of spring and summers hanging out near wetlands; Crows calling to communicate with each other - mysterious, intelligent, and family oriented; in the midwest, the sound of Sandhill Cranes high above as they return in the spring. This collection explores the connection between birdsong and a person's association with locations and the feel of home. Patterns, scraps of old books, rust prints, newspapers, and scribed thoughts are embedded in the layers of wax - memories and ties to individual places, family dynamics, and connections that form our idea of what 'home' means.
